Review: Remember Me?

Book: Remember Me
Author: Sophie Kinsella

My Short Review: Quick to read, very well written, very very entertaining!
My rating: 4 Stars( The highest I would give for a chick-lit book)

I read the Shopaholic Series a couple of years ago. It all started when I was browsing the library shelves and "The Undomestic Goddess" caught my eye. I loved the book. You can find my review here . I immediately googled Sophie Kinsella and realized that she'd written this whole series of Shopaholic books. I picked up "confessions of a shopaholic" and I was instantly addicted. My very brief review of the series can be found here .

It has been a while since I read the Kinsella books and I had "remember me" on my wishlist for a long time. I was browsing in the library yesterday and suddenly the bright yellow cover caught my eye. I immediately picked it up and as predicted, couldn't put it down!

Lexi Smart is out with her friends one night and it has not been a great day - she didnt get the much required bonus at work, her boyfriend stood her up, it is her dad's funeral the next day and just when she thinks things couldn't get worse, she falls down a flight a stairs and everything goes blank. She wakes up in the hospital all set to get back to the sucky life she's been leading only to realize that it is no longer 2004. It is 2007 and she's in the hospital because she's had an accident in her convertible mercedes. She finds herself slimmer (by two whole dress sizes), her dracula-teeth have been fixed, her bitten nails are manicured.. and in short, she's totally different.
Lexi is diagnosed with partial amnesia.. and she can't remember anything that happened after that fall in 2004. But one thing is for certain.. her life has completely transformed in the 3 years. She looks like a bombshell, drives a convertible mercedes, has a millionaire husband, and has also somehow becomes the boss of the department she used to works in!

Sophie Kinsella's writing is as addictive as ever in this book. It is a very light read and keeps you glued from the first page till the last. If you enjoy light reads I would totally recommend Kinsella's books to you..and this one for sure! If you've already read this one, I'd love to hear your comments!

I enjoyed this book, but not as much as the Shopaholic series.

I read this right after Maya was born last year.

I love Sophie Kinsella but this book made me realize she lost her touch. I guess you liked it a lot more than I did to give it 4 stars :)

Frankly, this book did nothing to me and I so badly wanted romance at one of those 2 A.M feedings.Sadly there was none, not in the book and not in the house :(

I totally *heart* her shopaholic series and 'Can u keep a secret'.But this and The Undomestic Goddess are pretty average if you ask me. You really don't feel much for the heroines whereas when Becky Bloomwood blunders you wanna hug her and laugh with her :)

I agree with bermudaonion--the Shopaholc series is better. But I still enjoyed Remember Me? a lot. I recently discovered that she'll have a new one out in the summer, which I'm excited about.

@bermudaonion - I have heard that a lot. That was one reason I didnt pick up this book as soon as it came out.. there were too many negative reviews floating in the air.. but it is a good book!

@ponc - you really think she lost her touch in this one? I was a little upset about the lack of romance in the book but I liked the plot. But I totally get what you mean.. Lexi is no where as lovable as Becky was. I guess I took too long a break between the books to be able to compare between the shopaholic series and this one.. it has been 2 years since i read that.
and meanwhile, i read a couple of very average chick-lits that made me jump with joy when i picked this one up!

@katherine - she has a new one coming out this summer? that's news to me! thanks for letting me know!

I'm one of those who absolutely loved this book. I really enjoyed the story line of her waking up so different-just imagine hey. lol. I also loved how she came to realization that having everything wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Glad you liked it Ramya.

Glad to hear you liked it, I bought it for $2 from my local library a while ago, they had been given a surplus when it was published. It still sits on my TBR I keep it for one of those days when I am in need of a good light read.

Ramya.. came here update my library list:) I love the shopoholic series, but i thought this one was Ok, not too great.. I really do hope she continues with Becky and writes at least one more about her. Can u keep a secret, imo is so much better than remember me.

I don't think Kinsella can top the Shopaholic series, though I enjoyed this one. Remember the Monte Blanc scene? I laughed out loud when I read that one. Best part of the whole book!

I liked this one. The heroine was not so scatty as Shopaholic. And I did like the whole back story that explains how she became the way she is.

I definitely did not like "The Undomestic Goddess" - it was really meh for me.
